Two faculty members of the School of Bioscience – Jennifer Martiny, Ph.D. and Katrine Whiteson, Ph.D. – have launched the Microbiome Centers Consortium (MCC). The purpose of the centers is to facilitate the incorporation of microbiomes into the work of numerous researches across scientific areas. The development of the centers responds to the growing demand of the service. Jennifer Martiny is currently a professor of ecology and evolutionary biology at UCI. Katrine Whiteson is a UCI assistant professor of molecular biology and biochemistry.
