Health officials have reported two new confirmed cases of measles in Orange County, involving an infant who was not old enough to receive vaccines, and a UC Irvine graduate student who was active on campus when contagious. The infant has been transferred to CHOC and is currently being treated. Likewise, the student will be receiving treatment and staying at home until they recover. While classes and programming are to proceed as scheduled, there are still approximately 500 students and faculty who were exposed to the affected student had not confirmed their immunity status. Below is the most recent update from Albert Chang, MD, MPH, the Medical Director of the UCI Student Health Center.
