				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">Professor Rozanne Sandri-Goldin, Chair of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics and a founding member of the Center for Virus Research at UCI, has been named Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Virology.  The Journal of Virology, a publication of the American Society for Virology, is the most prestigious, peer-reviewed virology journal in the world.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Professor Sandri-Goldin, an internationally renowned virologist who studies herpesviruses, had previously served for ten years as a senior Editor for the Journal of Virology.  In addition to her many distinguished research and service accomplishments, Professor Sandri-Goldin is a past President of the American Society for Virology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify"><a title="The Society for General Microbiology Spring Conference" href="http://www.sgm.ac.uk/default.cfm">The Society for General Microbiology Spring Conference</a> is taking place in Dublin from March 26 to 29, 2012. </p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Professor Buchmeier presented in the <a title="Viral Zoonoses" href="http://www.sgm.ac.uk/meetings/MTGPAGES/DU01.cfm">Viral Zoonoses</a> session, and his talk was entitled <em>Reversing immunology: Engineering Arenavirus vaccines from sequence information.</em></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The SGM provides a common meeting ground for scientists working in research and in fields with applications in microbiology, including medicine, veterinary medicine, pharmaceuticals, numerous industries, agriculture, food, the environment and education. The majority of members are employees of universities, research institutes, health services, government agencies and small to multinational companies.</p>

This event, taking place along the year of 2012, will have the participation of national and international experts from different fields of biology that will address the most actual questions in biology and evolution and their epistemological implications. Each guest speaker will give an open conference to the public and a more restricted one-day workshop.</p>
